The PlayHouse Explorer Program
The PlayHouse Explorer Program was created to ensure that the museum is accessible to all children and families, regardless of income. Play is important for everyone!
Please note, Explorer Memberships must be purchased in person. You can do this at the PlayHouse, or at the Recreation Desk at the Park District's Noble Center.
Please help us spread the word - help the PlayHouse and Peoria families by letting families who qualify know about this program!
Who qualifies
- Anyone enrolled in LINK or WIC
- Anyone enrolled in the Peoria Park District scholarship program
In order to participate in the Explorer Program, households must receive LINK or WIC benefits, and must provide a statement of benefits from IDHS, or be prepared to show the following documentation:
- Proof of current LINK or WIC enrollment (WIC or LINK cards and documentation of current benefits
- A current photo ID

Benefits of Membership
- Unlimited visits for up to two adult cardholders and their children (including foster children) under the age of 18 living in the same household;
- Free admission to other museums participating in the worldwide ASTC (Association of Science and Technology Centers) Travel Passport Program;*
- Admission during Members-Only Tuesdays, from 9am to noon;
- Special member pricing on birthday parties, programs and classes, and selected events;
- Monthly PlayHouse e-updates; and
- A 10% discount in our gift shop, the Peoria STOREia.
*Exclusions apply to museums within a 90-mile radius of the PlayHouse. For details and lists of participating museums, visit www.astc.org
For the Explorer Membership, a caregiver can be added on for an additional $10.
Qualifying families can also gain admission for $3 per person for anyone in the WIC or LINK household, at any time. This benefit is available regardless of address.
This program is offered in conjunction with Museums for All, a national initiative of the Association of Children's Museums and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, aimed at encouraging families of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits.
Through this initiative, we can ensure that low-income families have the opportunity to visit the PlayHouse and enjoy the exhibits and programs aimed at supporting them in becoming explorers and creators of the world.
Explorer Program families living within the boundaries of the Peoria Park District may also be eligible for additional benefits through the Peoria Park District scholarship program. For more information on scholarship programs in the Peoria Park District, please visit this page.
