A Peoria Park District Facility

Program Volunteers

Adults 18 and over are invited to assist with Field Trips, in Real Tools, and More:

Field Trips: Volunteers assist Education Department staff in welcoming classes to the museum through a range of field trip options. We particularly need volunteers for our Explore, Challenge, Become field trips, in which volunteers lead an interactive, hands-on activity that promotes children’s sense of curiosity about a particular topic or exhibit in the museum. Field trips are booked during regular open hours on weekdays and range in length from 2 to 3 hours.

In Real Tools: Assist and instruct safe tool use techniques in the Real Tools exhibit as kids use hammers, saws, drills, and other tools to create and build. Volunteers in this position should be comfortable with basic carpentry tools and interested in working hands-on with children.

For Special Events and Programs: The PlayHouse offers lots of family, kid, and tot programming as well as field trip options for schools around the Peoria area. Volunteers can help in facilitating these on a regular or occasional basis; however it works for your schedule!

Other: Do you love the PlayHouse but none of these things fit with your interests or availability? Contact us to find a way to volunteer in way that works with your skills and interests!

  • Serve your community and make kids smile!
  • After 30 hours of service your immediate family can enjoy free entrance to the museum as well as discounts in our museum shop
  • Meet and build a community of friends
  • Flexible schedules
  • Invitations to training workshops and annual recognition events
