Open Art Studio: Pint-sized Printmakers with Chloe McEldowney

Join local artist Chloe McEldowney to make your own monotype prints! Explore mark-making and color while using a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional tools, such as forks, cotton swabs, paintbrushes, fabric, and more.

Chloe is originally from Ohio. In 2015, Chloe moved to Peoria and became a resident artist at the Prairie Center of the Arts, enjoying a year of painting, printmaking, volunteering, and teaching. She currently has a home studio in Peoria, IL, where she creates colorful oil paintings, prints, and drawings that explore light vs. shadow, and opacity vs. transparency, through expressive marks. Her work can be found here: http://chloemceldowney.com/

Maker Workshop: Watercolor Lab

Fee includes museum admission. Adults attend free with regular admission.

Kids and families learn to use tools, experiment with different types of making, and think creatively in PlayHouse Maker Workshops! This program is designed for kids 3-12 years old. All children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and closes the Wednesday prior to the workshop.

In this workshop, get acquainted with the materials used for this beautiful style of painting, and then learn the basics of layering, washing, and softening to create a unique and colorful work of art to take home.

Magic Carpet: Reenie Charriere at the PlayHouse

Join artist Reenie Charriere, visiting from San Francisco, to create art on the PlayHouse porch! From July 23-August 3, children and families are invited to help create “Magic Carpet,” an original work of art, and to make their own sculptures and wearable art.

This program is made possible by a grant from The Arts Mean Business Fund and the Community Impact Fund of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois.
