Take a dive in the ocean at the PlayHouse!

This temporary exhibition is an art installation, made from recycled materials and created by artists from Bradley University’s Art and The Environment Class. It will engage families with a work of art as a way to learn about plastic pollution and the marine environment.

Our exhibit opening is held in conjunction with First Fridays, and is free and open to all. It will feature art activities as well as an opportunity to see this exhibit and the PlayHouse.

Open Art Studio: Watercolor Works with Abi Amstutz

Join local artist Abi Amstutz to make your own watercolor paintings.

Abi, of Inky Thoughts Studio, invites you and your little ones to come create beautiful watercolor paintings with repeated patterns such as waves, dots, or other favorite shapes designing a wonderful collection of colors and form.

Abi is a lover of bright colors and fun shapes, specifically when they connect or repeat as patterns. Particularly drawn to botanical prints and ancient art patterns you may find her/my pieces inspired by everything from pineapple peels to Persian rugs. Her work can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/inkythoughtsstudio/

Maker Workshop: Plant It!

Maker Workshop: Plant It!

Kids and families learn to use tools, experiment with different types of making, and think creatively in PlayHouse Maker Workshops! This program is designed for kids 3-12 years old. All children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and closes the Wednesday prior to the workshop.

In this workshop, build and paint your own colorful garden planter and fill it with plants and flowers of your choice!

This summer the PlayHouse is once again a Blue Star Museum! Currently serving military, including National Guard and Reserve, and their immediate families are invited to join us at the PlayHouse on June 6 to kick off this program with our partners Blue Star Families and Ameren.

Open Art Studio: Alphabet Artist with Sara Barlow

Explore making art using 2-D and 3-D objects and images to make unique letter art!

Open Art Studio is free with regular museum admission or membership and will be taught by local artist Sara Barlow of Sara Barlow Designs. Sara Barlow is a multi-disciplinary visual artist from Peoria, Illinois. Her passion lies in experimenting with different media, especially handcraft and computer aided design. Sara experienced a partial loss of sensation in her hands and feet in college, which inspired her to work with different senses, memory, and human connection.
