Celebrate the love of family (and play) with a special visit to Peoria PlayHouse that includes one free adult admission per family/household!
 
Join us in Real Tools, our makerspace, to build something special for someone you love. Then come to the Art Room for story times celebrating the diversity of families at 1pm and 3 pm. All activities are included with museum admission or membership.

2019 Summer Maker Program
May 27 – Aug 16 all-day

The Peoria PlayHouse Summer Maker Program begins on Memorial Day: Monday, May 27 and ends on Friday, August 16. We hope this program encourages you to try out different types of tools and inspires you to make fun projects, all summer long!

On your next visit, pick up a Maker Map at the front desk, filled with 25 awesome challenges. Some of the squares MUST be completed at the Peoria PlayHouse, while others can be done at home with your favorite adult OR at the museum in our Real Tools maker space.

Just as a reminder, Real Tools summer hours are:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 12-4pm

Tuesday, Closed

Saturday, 9am-4pm
Sunday, Noon-5pm

For every FIVE stamps you collect, you’ll receive a small prize of your choice AND a raffle ticket for the Grand Prize: a basket of tools and supplies to make more amazing projects at home!

Birthday Bash: Superheroes
Jun 2 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Celebrate the PlayHouse’s fourth birthday with us! It’s a “pay what you like” day at the PlayHouse, participate in activities and still enjoy all of our wonderful exhibits. We invite all visitors (adults, too!) to dress up as a superhero for the day!

Suggested donation: $4

Activities will include:

* Learn about superhero cosplay prop making with a demo from Aaron’s Awesome Builds [12-2 pm]
* Meet a superhero or villain from Heroes Inc. and get your picture taken [1:30-3:30 pm]
* Make your own comic book
* Create your own superhero mask
* Superhero obstacle course with OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois 
* Strike your best superhero pose in front of our city backdrop
A quiet space will be available in our Zoo Room for those who need a sensory break, nursing space or otherwise need the area.

Be Anything Career Day: The Natural World

Join us to BE ANYTHING! at the Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum! In June we are exploring careers related to nature, animals, and the Illinois River. Meet a wildlife biologist, animal handlers, environmental scientists, a green energy designer, the Captain of the Spirit of Peoria boat, and a horticulturalist! Each station features activities appropriate for children ages 4-12, engaging children in work related to the featured careers.

Visit with:

  • Wildlife Biologist, Peoria Park District Environmental Team
  • Ship’s Captain, Spirit of Peoria
  • Therapy Dog Handler, Peoria Humane Society
  • Water Quality Project Manager, The Nature Conservancy
  • Soil Scientist, Bradley University
  • Solar PV System Designer, Ruyle Mechanical Services, Inc.
  • Horticulturist, Hoerr Nursery

 

Visit all the stations and be entered into a raffle to win a “Natural World” basket, featuring a family pass for a cruise on the Spirit of Peoria, a Family membership to Forest Park Nature Center, a solor-powered race car kit, and more!

This event is free with membership or admission to the Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum. No advance registration required.
