You can construct things with hand tools like hammers, saws, and screwdrivers, or with big machines like loaders, dump trucks, and bulldozers. What do you like to build?

Animal Encounters at the PlayHouse: Reptiles with FPNC

Get up close to some cuddly, creepy, and crawly creatures! Come learn about animals with FPNC from 10-10:30am. We also invite you to the PlayHouse Nature Table and story time at 10:15 am.

Due to animal temperament or other factors, the animals available might change on short notice.

Maker Workshop: Melted Crayon Art

Learn about monochromatic, complementary, and polychromatic compositions while creating some original work of your own.

How to register:

  • Members will receive their discount by entering the code:  PH2019MW at checkout online. Current membership status will be verified. Explorer Members should register at the PlayHouse to receive their discount
  • Registration closes the day of the workshop or when full. Anyone who registers the day of the workshop pays full price.

STEAM Homeschool: Chemist

STEAM Homeschool: Chemist

The PlayHouse offers STEAM Home School classes in which students explore topics
related to science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Hands-on activities included!

Registration is required at least three days prior to the home school program, although classes may sell out before that date.

Open Art Studio: Hindu New Year Rangolis

Join us every second and fourth Friday of each month while we create art in the Art Room for Open Art Studio Fridays!

This week we will be making special Hindu New Year rangolis (traditional chalk drawings) with volunteers from the Hindu Temple of Central Illinois.

Due to concerns for community wellness, we are currently postponing any high attendance events at Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum. For now, the museum will remain open at its usual times. As always, we routinely and thoroughly clean our facilities and manipulatives/toys.

Free with museum admission or membership

You’re invited to a day of enchantment! Try your hand at a fantasy scavenger hunt. Then build a castle, pose at our fairy tale photo booth, create a treasure map, join in on a magical storytelling time, and more.

Activities will include:

  •  Make a treasure map
  •  Fantasy quest scavenger hunt
  • Enchanted dance party with bubbles, ribbon wands, and more
  • Story time: Rapunzel (Once Upon a World) and You Don’t want a Unicorn!
  • Fairy tale photo station
  • Create cardboard castles
