STEAM Homeschool: Chemist

The PlayHouse offers STEAM Home School classes in which students explore topics
related to science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Hands-on activities included!

Registration is required at least three days prior to the home school program, although classes may sell out before that date.

How to register:

  • Register in person at the PlayHouse, by phone at (309) 323-6900, or online. Those who are Explorer Members must register in person at the PlayHouse.
  • Members will receive their discount by entering the code: PH2019HS at checkout online. Current membership status will be verified.

The PlayHouse has switched to a new program registration system. What you should know:

  • $6 per member / $12 per non-member / $3 per Explorer Member (includes museum admission)

You’re invited to a day of enchantment! Try your hand at a fantasy scavenger hunt. Then build a castle, pose at our fairy tale photo booth, create a treasure map, join in on a magical storytelling time, and more.

 

 

Activities will include:

  •  Make a treasure map
  •  Fantasy quest scavenger hunt
  • Enchanted dance party with bubbles, ribbon wands, and more
  • Story time: Rapunzel (Once Upon a World)
  • Fairy tale photo stations
  • Create cardboard castles

Storytime at the PlayHouse: Hindu New Year

Everyone loves a good story: explore some with us covering a variety of topics including holidays, cultures, and languages with people from our community. Most Storytimes will be bi-lingual with a language related to the culture or holiday we are covering.

Hindu New Year is called by many names across the country of India. We will learn about the holiday and Hinduism through children’s books.  This Storytime will be in English and Hindi (one of the 22 recognized languages of India)!

Storytime at the PlayHouse is on select Fridays and Saturdays.

Included with museum admission or membership.

Maker Workshop: Trinket Boxes

Come make and decorate your very own trinket boxes! We will use clay, Popsicle sticks, cardboard, and other fun materials.
