Animal Encounters at the PlayHouse with FPNC
May 1 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Get up close to some cuddly, creepy, and crawly creatures! Come learn about animals with FPNC from 10-10:30am. We also invite you to the PlayHouse Nature Table and story time at 10:15 am.

Due to animal temperament or other factors, the animals available might change on short notice.

Virtual StoryTime at the PlayHouse

Everyone loves a good story: explore some with us covering a variety of topics including holidays, cultures, and languages with people from our community. Most StoryTimes will be bilingual with a language related to the culture or holiday we are covering.

Virtual StoryTime will be posted on Facebook at 10am CST every Friday, and uploaded to our YouTube channel. This week, we are learning Spanish with global grandparents!

Maker Workshop: Printmaking
May 2 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Come learn basic principles of printmaking while creating a mini-series and book of your own prints.

How to register:

  • Register in person at the PlayHouse, by phone at (309) 323-6900, or online. Those who are Explorer Members must register in person at the PlayHouse.
  • Members will receive their discount by entering the code:  PH2019MW at checkout online. Current membership status will be verified. Explorer Members should register at the PlayHouse to receive their discount
  • Registration closes the day of the workshop or when full. Anyone who registers the day of the workshop pays full price.

The PlayHouse has switched to a new program registration system. If you encounter technical problems in using this new system, please contact Kevin Davis at the Peoria Park District’s Recreation Desk at 681-1200.  For program questions, please call our Family and Public Programs Educator, Tessa Martinez at 309-323-6894.

Students in K – 5th grade meet face-to-face with people in various occupations to learn about jobs and the corresponding skill sets required to be successful in a career. Simply, if they can See It, they can Be It.

2020 Summer Maker Program
May 11 – Aug 16 all-day

The Peoria PlayHouse Summer Maker Program begins on Memorial Day: Monday, May 11 and ends on Sunday, August 16. We hope this program encourages you to try out different types of tools and inspires you to make fun projects, all summer long!

Our Maker Map is available on the Innovation at Home webpage. Usually some projects must be done at the PlayHouse, but this year we have adapted the program so that they can all be done at home!

 

For every FOUR stamps you collect, you’ll receive a Dairy Queen coupon. Those who complete all 16 challenges will be entered to win an EXCLUSIVE PlayHouse party for the people in your household (and depending on updated Social Distancing guidelines, a few friends, too!)

To be eligible to win a prize, submit photos of your completed challenge using this submission form on our website. Within a week, you will receive an email with your Maker Map with stamps for every challenge you complete. And don’t forget to share your photos on social media using the hashtag #PHSummerMakers!

During this program for children 1 to 3 years of age and their grown-ups, children develop language, small motor skills, and social skills while engaging in hands-on exploration. Each class includes songs and musical instruments, a read-aloud story, time for play, and a visual art activity.

Numbers help us keep track of so many things. Do you know how old you are? How many cookies you have? What time of day it is? We can use numbers to answer all of these questions!

Kindergarten Readiness Application Deadline
May 18 @ 11:45 pm – 11:59 pm

Deadline to apply is May 18, 2020 for the 2020 Kindergarten Readiness summer program. This program is open incoming kindergarteners to the 2020 fall school year at Peoria Public Schools. Kindergarten Readiness meets on Mondays and Thursdays from 9am to noon. A maximum of 20 children will be accepted.
