A Peoria Park District Facility

Volunteer

The PlayHouse depends upon its wonderful volunteers to support our mission of helping children become explorers and creators of the world!

Adult (18+) volunteer information is listed below. We invite teens and parents to visit this page to find out more about our Teen Internship opportunities.

program volunteers

Work directly with children and families at the PlayHouse! Program volunteers help with:

Field Trips: Welcoming school groups to museum, and lead hands on activities in our Explore, Challenge, Become field trips.

Real Tools: Assist and instruct children in safe tool use techniques in the Real Tools exhibit as kids use hammers, saws, drills, and other tools to create and build.

Special Events and Programs: The PlayHouse offers lots of family, kid, and tot programming; help out when it works for your schedule!

parent ambassadors

Support the PlayHouse the museum by sharing information about our museum and programs with your communities!

The goal of the Parent Ambassador program is to develop a network of parents from a wide range of schools, daycares, neighborhoods, churches, and other organizations who can help promote the PlayHouse. Parent Ambassadors are invited to the PlayHouse 3-4 times a year for a special presentation, when staff share information and ask for feedback. Ambassadors will also receive information via email and snail mail, which ensures that they are the first to know about upcoming opportunities here!

Office and Project Volunteers

Do you love the PlayHouse, and have a specific skill you think could support the work we do? Do you prefer volunteering in the office, instead of directly with visitors? Contact us to find a way to volunteer in way that works with your skills and interests!

To talk to us about becoming an Office or Project-based volunteer, please contact Kristin Vannatta at kvannatta@peoriaparks.org or at 309-323-6893.
